Reports October And Thanksgiving Passenger Traffic

NEWPORT NEWS, VA, November 23, 2010 – The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) increased passenger traffic by 7.9% in October. 96,526 passengers used the Airport in October 2010 compared with 89,443 passengers in October 2009. October’s passenger traffic was an all time record high for the airport during the same month in all previous years.
“We are extremely proud of the consistent increases in passenger traffic we continue to enjoy at the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport. We strive to offer exceptional customer service to our military/government, business and leisure travelers, and look forward to serving the Hampton Roads Region during the upcoming holiday travel season” stated Stephen M. Mallon, Chairman of the Peninsula Airport Commission (PAC).
This year the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport expects to see 11,594 passengers travel through the airport during Thanksgiving week, compared with 11,351 passengers during the same week last year; resulting in a passenger increase of 2.1%.
“This has been a busy week at the airport and so far we are experiencing short security wait times and have ample parking to handle the increased demand. Passengers should expect to experience the convenience and ease of traveling through the Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport that they have become accustomed to” stated Jessica A. Wharton, Director Marketing and Public Affairs, the Peninsula Airport Commission.
The Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport is served by four airlines: AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines and US Airways with non-stop service to seven domestic destinations (Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Denver, NY-LaGuardia, Orlando and Philadelphia) with connections throughout the world.
